The client situation

When the Client Asks, Are You Ready to Guide the Conversation?

"We're expecting a baby. What should we be thinking about for taxes?"

You may know several tax rules that could matter. But when the client asks the question in real life, you still need to know:

This is exactly why the CHILD Framework exists.

The CHILD Framework

Five Letters to Help You Organize the Conversation.

The CHILD Framework gives tax professionals a structured way to think through planning involving clients with children or dependents.

Care Costs
Head Start Savings
Income Shifting and Investment Planning
Life Events and Special Circumstances
Deeper Planning Discussion

The Workshop is where we unpack what sits underneath each letter and practice how to use the framework in an advisory conversation.

Two Frameworks. One Conversation.

Know What to Explore. Know How to Guide the Conversation.

The CHILD Framework helps organize what you need to explore when a client has or is expecting a child. The LEAD Framework gives you a process for guiding the advisory conversation.

What to explore CHILD Framework
  • Care Costs
  • Head Start Savings
  • Income Shifting and Investment Planning
  • Life Events and Special Circumstances
  • Deeper Planning Discussion
How to guide the conversation LEAD Framework
  • Listen
  • Evaluate
  • Advise
  • Deliver

Put the two frameworks together, and you have a clearer path from recognizing the opportunity to confidently guiding the client conversation.

Instead of wondering where to start or what to say next, you have a framework for organizing your thinking and a process for moving the conversation forward.

Learn From Someone Who Has Done the Work.

Phuc Ly, EA

Phuc Ly is an Enrolled Agent, tax advisory educator, and founder of Level Up Quest. He built Alpha B Group Tax and Bookkeeping from the ground up: preparing returns, taking client meetings, and developing the people on his team to handle advisory work.

After selling the firm in 2023, he turned full time to training tax professionals to become better advisors. This Workshop brings that experience into a practical framework designed to help tax professionals strengthen how they approach advisory conversations.

  • Built and grew a 17-person, seven-figure tax firm from the ground up.
  • Trained employees to run client meetings, do tax planning, and handle complex tax work.
  • Sold the practice in 2023 and now trains tax professionals in advisory full time.
