From Tax Preparer to Firm Owner
Phuc's approach to advisory was shaped by building a tax firm, developing a team, and learning how to move client-facing and advisory responsibilities beyond the owner.
Phuc started working in tax in 2005. He built Alpha B Group Tax and Bookkeeping from the ground up: preparing returns, taking client meetings, and learning every part of running a practice from the inside.
As the firm grew, he ran into the same wall most firm owners hit. Everything important still flowed through him. The complex returns. The strategy decisions. The hard client conversations.
So he trained his team to take on more: running client meetings, doing tax planning, handling complex tax work, and taking real client-facing responsibility. The firm grew to 17 people and a seven-figure practice.
In 2023, he sold the firm.
That experience is why his teaching focuses on implementation, not just information. He knows advisory cannot live inside the owner's head. It has to be built into the people and the systems of the firm.
